Custom calculators and interactive tools for your website
Your customers may need to work out a price or compare a few options before they’re ready to contact you.

I build custom calculators and interactive tools for small and medium-sized businesses across Ontario. We can use your pricing rules, spreadsheet or service knowledge to help visitors get an answer that relates to their situation.
From a customer question to a working tool
You may already have a spreadsheet you use to prepare estimates. Perhaps customers regularly ask which option suits them, or your team needs the same details before it can quote a job.
A tool can collect those details and use them to produce an estimate or suggestion, with an explanation of what the result means. That gives the visitor something useful to bring to the next conversation.
The tool can be part of your existing website. We’ll review your setup and agree on how it should fit.
What could we build?
- Quote and pricing estimators. Let visitors explore how choices such as size, quantity or service level affect an estimate, using rules you provide.
- Savings and ROI calculators. Help someone compare a cost with potential savings, with the assumptions clearly explained.
- Product or service selectors. Guide visitors through a few questions to suggest suitable options from your range.
- Guided inquiry forms. Gather the details you need to understand a request and prepare for the next conversation.
For example, a cleaning business could let visitors enter a property size and choose a service frequency to see an estimated cost. A supplier could use a selector to help customers narrow down suitable products.
We’ll choose the approach based on the question you’re answering and the information you can reliably provide.
What goes into the build
The calculation rules need as much attention as the screen design. I’ll quote for the parts your tool needs:
- The questions and inputs. Ask for the information needed to produce a useful result.
- Your rules and calculations. Translate the agreed logic into the tool and work through examples together.
- A clear result. Explain what the answer means, which assumptions it uses and whether it is an estimate or a confirmed price.
- A usable layout. Plan the controls and results for phones, larger screens and keyboard use.
- The next step. Offer an appropriate way to make an inquiry, request a quote or explore a service.
- Testing and handover. Check agreed scenarios and explain how future changes to the tool will be handled.
If you want results sent to your team or connected to another system, we’ll check what’s possible and include that work in the scope.
Building and checking the tool
A spreadsheet or a few worked examples will help us define the inputs and expected results. I’ll review those with you before quoting for the build, including any connections to other systems.
You’ll try a prototype with examples you know. We’ll also check what happens when information is missing or someone enters an unusual value. You’ll confirm the business rules, and I’ll check that the tool applies them as intended.
After your review and the agreed checks, we’ll add the tool to your site and document how its rules and content will be updated.
A few common questions
Can you turn my spreadsheet into a web calculator?
Often, a spreadsheet is a useful starting point. I’ll review its formulas, data and dependencies to see what can be translated into a web tool and what may need a different approach.
Can the tool collect inquiries?
Yes, an inquiry step can be part of the scope. We’ll decide what details you need, when to ask for them and where the request should go.
Can I change prices or options later?
We’ll discuss how often those details change and who should update them. That will help determine whether you need editing controls or a process for requesting changes.
How do we check the calculations?
We’ll compare the results with agreed examples and expected answers, including unusual inputs. You’ll confirm the business rules and assumptions, and I’ll check that the tool applies them as intended.
Adding the tool to your website
A Landing Page can introduce an offer and guide visitors into the tool. Website Maintenance & Support can help with agreed changes as your prices, services or rules evolve.
Your next step
Tell me what your customers need to work out
Tell me what you’d like people to work out. A spreadsheet, a common customer question or a rough example is enough to start the conversation.
