Websites, tools & ongoing help

Ongoing website strategy and consulting

It’s easy to end up with a long list of website improvements and little time to decide which ones matter.

I work with small and medium-sized businesses across Ontario to sort through those decisions. We’ll look at what you want the site to do, what’s getting in the way and what you can realistically take on.

When there’s plenty to do and no clear starting point

You might be weighing up a redesign when the immediate problem is a service page that’s hard to understand. Or you might have an idea for a new feature and want to know what it would involve before spending money on it.

I’ll help you examine the problem and the options, including what we still need to find out. The recommendation should make sense for your customers and the resources you have available.

What we can work through together

The work might focus on content people struggle to find, what your website reports mean, or the case for a new feature. We can also turn existing recommendations into a brief for your developer.

I’ll connect each recommendation to the problem it addresses, so you can see why it deserves time or budget.

The focus will depend on the decisions you need help making.

A plan you can use

Depending on the scope, our work can produce a priority list, an improvement roadmap, review notes or a brief for the person making the changes.

For example, you might notice that customers often ask which service they need. We could review how those services are described, identify where the distinctions are unclear and recommend a change to the page structure or wording.

The plan would explain what prompted the recommendation, what to change and how we could check whether it helped. That gives you a reason for the work and a way to review it afterwards.

How ongoing consulting works

The first conversation will help us choose what to focus on. Your existing reports, customer feedback and previous recommendations can all help, even if they leave some questions unanswered.

I’ll quote for the review and advice you need, with a schedule that fits the work. We’ll be clear about who will make any recommended changes and whether implementation needs a separate quote.

At each review, we’ll look at what has changed and what we’ve learned. Some priorities may stay the same; others may need adjusting as your business or the evidence changes.

A few common questions

How is consulting different from website maintenance?

Consulting helps you decide what to improve, why it matters and how to approach it. Maintenance covers agreed updates, fixes and upkeep. We can discuss both, with clear responsibilities for advice and hands-on work.

Can you work with our existing developer or team?

Yes. We can agree on how recommendations will be shared and who is responsible for implementation. A clear brief and priority list can give everyone a common starting point.

Do we need analytics already?

No. We can begin with your goals, the website itself and what you hear from customers. If measurement would help answer important questions, we can discuss what to set up. I’ll be clear when there isn’t enough data to support a conclusion.

Can we start with a focused review?

Yes. We can scope an initial review around a question or part of the site, then decide whether ongoing help would be useful. The first conversation will help establish what makes sense.

When the plan leads to a project
